Joanne Fisher, GRI, SFR can assist you with applying for your home loan.

Securing a loan is one of the more exasperating elements of buying a home. But it doesn't have to be. I have close business relationships with various lending companies in the Brooksville area, and they've helped me realize a few things that make the loan application process a breeze.

1 – Compile a list of questions about your loan program

Be sure to have a list of questions if you do not completely understand the ins and outs of the different programs. I or one of my trusted lenders will assist you with understanding the advantages and disadvantages of each program, because it can be hard to know the differences between both fixed and adjustable rate mortgages.

2 – Decide when you want to lock

Locking in the rate indicates that the lender keeps to the interest rates for the loan – most often at the time the loan application is submitted. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate anytime between the day of your loan application and issuance of closing documents. Those who prefer to float believe interest rates will drop in the near future. Click here to see the outlook for the next 90 days of interest rates.

3 – Decide if you want to pay additional points to reduce your rate

Usually you can choose to pay additional points to lower the rate of your loan. Each point is 1 percent of the loan and is payable in cash at the time of closing. Click here to use our points calculator. This tool will assist you with determining if buying points is right for you.

4 – Compile your paperwork

Acquiring a mortgage loan requires lots of paperwork, so you should spend some time getting your documents together. Click here to preview typical information that goes on a loan application.
